La efectiva y afectiva comunicación interpersonal entre el médico y sus pacientes es fundamental para el éxito del proceso de curación, es decir, lograr restablecer la salud del paciente.
El médico, como profesional de la salud, tiene en su mano la posibilidad y responsabilidad de atender,cuidar, curar y proteger la salud de las personas que van a su consultorio en el hospital o en el centro médico privado en busca de salud.
En el momento,en que el médico recibe al paciente, debe iniciarse un proceso comunicacional entre ambos. Solo así se produce la humanización de la medicina.
La premura del facultativo en atender un paciente, se debe entre otras cosas a la gran cantidad de personas que debe atender, al pluriempleo y muchas veces, a la escasa conciencia de su deber, lo lleva a desarrollar no diálogo con el paciente, sino monólogo o un par de preguntas lacónicas.
Esto es comprensible por el agotamiento físico del médico, sobre todo en tiempo de COVID _19, con jornadas abrumadoras en las que muchos terminaban infectados, luego morían y mueren.
Nos obstante, el principio de comunicación, del diálogo entre el médico y sus pacientes debe de defenderse, ya que es responsabilidad del profesional de la salud comunicarles claramente a sus pacientes su padecimiento, el tratamiento que debe llevar y la forma de llevarlo a la práctica.
El trato que debe primar en ese proceso de diálogo, debe ser de respeto entre ambos (médico y el paciente), para generar confianza y solidaridad.
El paciente tiene derecho a saber el padecimiento que tiene, la posibilidad de superarlo, posibles complicaciones, tipo de tratamiento y su impacto en el organismo. Es decir, todo lo relacionado a su estado de salud. También tiene deberes que cumplir para su curación.
Cada vez más se requiere de la necesaria comunicación efectiva y afectiva entre el médico y sus pacientes, con el propósito de contribuir al buen estado anímico del enfermo y su esperanza de vida.
El profesional de la salud no debe molestarse si el paciente le hace preguntas relativas a su padecimiento y el tratamiento a llevar. Muy por el contrario, debe informarlo y orientarlo bien.
