Excanciller Joseph denunció dilaciones en pesquisa magnicidio

PUERTO PRÍNCIPE.- El excanciller de Haití Claude Joseph denunció este viernes que la investigación del asesinato del presidente Jovenel Moïse es deficiente, entre otras razones, por falta de voluntad política.

Joseph quien también fungió como primer ministro interino hasta ceder el puesto al actual, Ariel Henry, sugirió que el reciente arresto del exmilitar colombiano Marco Antonio Palacios podría ayudar a identificar a los autores intelectuales del «atroz crimen».

Palacios, de nacionalidad colombiana, es el primer imputado formal por el magnicidio ocurrido el 7 de julio, en el cual también resultó herida la ex primera dama Martine Étienne en su brazo derecho.

Moïse recibió al menos 12 disparos ese fatídico día y el colombiano admitió pertenecer al equipo Delta que ingresó al dormitorio presidencial en esa jornada con la intención de asesinar al jefe de Estado.

El exmilitar fue arrestado en Jamaica en octubre pasado por entrada ilegal en ese territorio, pero las autoridades de ese país consideraron insuficientes las pruebas presentadas por Haití para la extradición, a lo cual se suma que no tienen un tratado firmado en este sentido.

Jamaica deportó a Palacios a Colombia, y durante la escala del vuelo en Panamá fue apresado por Estados Unidos, lo cual dio un nuevo giro a la investigación, estancada desde hace varios meses.

Recientemente, el juez que instruye el caso liberó a cuatro policías acusados de participar en el complot, sin ofrecer explicaciones.

Moïse es el quinto presidente asesinado desde que Haití se liberó en 1804, y su muerte agravó la crisis institucional, política y económica del pequeño país, que también tuvo que enfrentar en 2021 un potente terremoto con un saldo de más de dos mil 200 fallecidos.
