MIAMI.- Los Miami Marlins adquirieron al jardinero Esteury Ruiz de Los Angeles Dodgers en un canje por el lanzador derecho de ligas menores Adriano Marrero.

El veloz Ruiz, de 26 años, lideró la Liga Americana con 67 bases robadas para los Athletics en 2023.

Tiene un promedio de bateo de .241 en cuatro temporadas en las Grandes Ligas con cuatro equipos, pero destaca como corredor de bases y defensor.

Los Dodgers adquirieron a Ruiz de los Atléticos en abril pasado, y fue un reserva poco utilizado cuando jugó en las Grandes Ligas para los campeones consecutivos de la Serie Mundial. Ruiz bateó .190 en 19 juegos para Los Ángeles, jugando principalmente como reemplazo defensivo o corredor emergente.

Los Marlins designaron al infielder Eric Wagaman para asignación para abrirle espacio en su roster de 40 jugadores a Ruiz.
